Kick-Ass music festival in Kenilworth

September 3, 20233 min read

The Sunshine Coast music calendar is running hot this year with Kickass Music and Camping Festival at Kenilworth.

Featuring our very own local blues legend Ash Grunwald, this family-friendly festival at Kenilworth Showgrounds is on September 8-9.

And it promises to be a musical dreamland for parents because there’s even a supervised kids-zone to keep the young’ns entertained!

Ash joins an unmatched all-Aussie lineup including James Reyne, The Beautiful Girls (main picture), and Kingswood.

Plus Aussie greats Dragon and The Choirboys.

And while caregivers can enjoy a much-needed break, a giant fire pit is sure to bring everyone back together keeping the campers cosy at night.

Music industry leaders and amateurs might call it networking with a view, with the festival also providing a incredibly immersive atmosphere which connects both community members and professionals alike.

With a spectrum of musical genres, staggered performances, and a super-charged vibe, this festival is sure to break up the hum drum of life, and provide memories to last a lifetime.

An institution at Byron Bay’s blues and roots festival Bluesfest, Ash Grunwald recently headlined last month’s Gympie Music Muster.

You don’t have to travel to the US to see blues greats here

Normally you’d have to travel to New Orleans to catch an act like his, with Ash’s shows always providing a purely electrifying, evocative and intoxicating atmosphere.

With six Australian Top-50 albums, five ARIA nominations, two APRA Awards, and a gong for Best International Act at the LA Music Critic Awards, Grunwald is cast in gold among Australia’s most successful blues musicians.

The Kenilworth Showgrounds offers a magnificent open-air site, surrounded by rolling hills and is dissected by the Mary River, just 35 minutes from Noosa in the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Punters are encouraged to bring a camp chair or small picnic rug to the event to spread out and relax, with all areas of the venue having a view of the stage.

Just don’t bring alcohol into the event. Or your pets.

Or cheese knives.

Children under 5 years are free.

Kickass Music and Camping Festival is at Kenilworth Showgrounds. Weekend, camping and day tickets all available here: kickassfestival.com.au.
