Caloundra: Boy & Bear’s first show at Kings Beach Tavern was a complete sell-out which just says everything about this much-loved Australian band and its ever-loyal following.
Thankfully for locals, a second show for November 8 has been announced, so be sure to secure a ticket as this show is also set to follow suit.
Boy & Bear is a favourite indie folk band best known for their hit, Southern Sun, a classic Australian country track with its soothing, whimsical, and uptempo soulful rhythm.
It’s not surprising this song has almost 68 million streams on Spotify (you read that right, sir!).
Southern Sun has a truly evocative, patriotic spirit, which took this track straight to the pool room of fellow Aussie music rock legends.
Launched on triple J, the song was apparently inspired by the works of Bruce Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac and Paul Simon.
It even snagged a spot on US comedian Conan O’Brien’s late night TV show in 2014, with the band playing to a global audience.
Fall At Your Feet is another wildly popular track, a cover of Crowded House’s 1991 global hit, and Wicked Game is another fan favourite and cover of US rock musician Chris Isaak’s famously haunting tune.
The band has even played alongside Crowded House, and was involved in a whisky campaign with US actor Matthew McConaughey.
It’s hard to believe Southern Sun is celebrating 10 years since its release as the lead song on their second studio album, Harlequin Dream.
Boy & Bear’s four previous albums have all taken top 10 spots on the ARIA charts, with two albums, including Harlequin Dream, making it to number one.
In recognition of their new self-titled album, Boy & Bear, this first regional tour in many years will be an honour for many as this iconic Aussie band performs in Caloundra and across Australia.
There hasn’t been a more perfect time for Boy & Bear to bring their charismatic and uniquely warm and enveloping presence back home.
