Brisbane boys Brixton Alley will take over Solbar on Saturday night with their muso mates Boof Heads.
In a joint headliner of ruckus, beers, sweet music and good times, it’s on the house for punters with Solbar footing the bill.
They will also perform at Brisbane’s Stranded Bar on March 9.
The indie-punk band – of three best mates Jonny, Ben and Alex – has always seen their fellow compatriots, not as competition, but as a playground for endless possibilities.
The big bad collab
They recently added two more “mates” to the band, and the two outfits officially release their new song, “Young Dreamers”, at their upcoming show.
Guitarist and frontman Jonny said this was the band’s first collaboration.
“The whole thing came about really organically; just as a few jam sessions with a song that I’d been playing around with for a while,” he said.
“After a while we felt like we were really onto something and the snowball began to roll.
“These guys are incredible musicians and they absolutely tear it up on stage. To be able to get out and play some gigs with them is gunna be a wild ride for everyone involved.”
Brixton Alley on the Coast
Jonny, who lives in Brisbane’s grand old suburb of New Farm, said there was “so much to love” about shows on the Coast.
“The Coast crowds we’ve had in the past have always been super energetic, lively and they bloody love a beer which fits our MO like a glove.
“Considering our shows there have been few and far between, we’ve always felt like locals whenever we’ve turned up.
“And we’re always surprised by the turnout we get at our gigs there.
“But I think the Coast is synonymous with that. The lifestyle seems really inclusive and everyone we’ve ever met, out and about, have always been nothing short of a legend.”
Sing along to “Young Dreamers” here.
“We’ve been itching to get back to Solbar for so long and this new single release was just the perfect opportunity to make a real showcase out of it.
“You can expect tons of energy, so much noise, and brand new limited edition Brixton Alley and Boof Heads merch. And there might even be a water pistol full of beer floating around.”
Space&Ages will get the party started.
Yelo: Can you give a shout out to your biggest 11-year-old fan, Parkes?
Jonny: Parkes is basically the fourth member of Brixton Alley. He’s just the biggest legend. To have a young rocker like him enjoy what we do, and take something from our music that he can relate to or that gives him energy in any way, is an incredible feeling. To be able to reach anybody with our music is the biggest win for us, and it’s the reason we love what we do.
Easter egg:
Yelo: Do you like Vegemite?
Jonny: I fucking love Vegemite.
That’s all we need to know, thanks legend!
