“Don’t put us in a box, we’ll blow the lid off it!” – In2natioN
Nambour: Sonic stalwarts In2NatioN will bring their powerful beats, reggae-charged riffs, and heart-swelling messages of hope to The Presynct on Friday.
With an explosive backdrop of sweaty ska and fun-loving riffs, this popular six-piece outfit has been entertaining Sunshine Coast natives for more than a decade, ripping out original live music with rocksteady reggae and face-melting funk.
Spearheaded by two energetic MCs, Innate and Ambush, they serve up a powerful vocal attack of Aussie hip-hop, mixed with soulful-flowing melodies, phunky intricate riffs and deep dub-like bass.
Better still, there’s a positive message in every tune with sun-drenched lyrics weaving through bombastic bass lines, and delivering a passionate performance which promotes the all-important bohemian directives – truth, freedom, peace and love.
Described as a serving of the Beastie Boys and Dooby brothers, with a side of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and a light garnishing of The Doors, the end result is a fusion of the great modern-musical styles.
The craft-masters even created their own genre of funk, rock, hip-hop and groove – which they labeled “junk-hop”.
Warning: while the band bounces along with a symphony of congas, the energy is so contagious you might have to be pulled from the dance floor.
In2natioN is local lads Ollie J (guitar/synth), Quizmical (bass), Drum Addict (drums) DJ Jelus (turntables), Innate MC (vocals) and MC Ambush (vocals).
They play at The Presynct on Friday, November 3.
