It’s been a long 16-year wait for The Cure fans who can finally get their tastebuds into a new song.
The English post-punk rockers’ single, “Alone”, is sure to take fans straight back to the 80s and 90s.
It’s almost seven minutes long and features the band’s iconic, atmospheric synth lines and haunting vocals from frontman Robert Smith.
After a series of cryptic online teasers, it arrived on Thursday (local time) and marks the first song from their new album.

Long-time fans took to social media saying were in tears as they listened to the song for the first time.
Antonio De Santis says: “I’m not crying, I just got Cure discography in my eye”.
While Brendan Taylor says, “What’s all this wet stuff coming out of my eyes!?”
Maxime Comby says, “The only band that grabs me by the throat and brings me to tears like this. I know the live versions. But the studio version is magical.”
“Lovely song!” Jan Leeflag says.
“The Cure were always the soundtrack for those that were longing for more out of this life without knowing exactly what that was”.
The Cure‘s new album arrives on November 1.
