Yelo Mag debuted as a Sunshine Coast online music website in mid-2023, with a mission to crank up the local music scene.
Think: 90s music street press, with community-newspaper spirit and punk-rock flair.
Yelo or “yellow” pretty much sums up everything about our “sunny-side up” region.
Vibrant, happy, juicy, hot.
With the music industry in repair mode as we heal from the COVID aftershocks, many creatives have experienced isolation and depression like never before.
But it’s not just creatives who need more “yelo” in their lives; it’s our community dwellers too.
We have made it Yelo’s mission to bring joy through music and connection.
We believe happiness lies in the halls of our local live music venues, and in real-life connectivity with the people around us, our loved ones and friends.
It’s in the soothing, ever-present, primal beat which pumps through our souls on a visceral level, healing our tethered souls and broken hearts.
Because, in this digitally-toxic world we all need a bit more of that gentle, human touch.
Music is the antidote to this world’s toxic chaos. It’s always there, you just have to lean in and find it.
And it’s our job to help with that!
Yelo brings music news, tour announcements, reviews, feature stories, social galleries, and a gig guide, giving our community all they need to be up-to-date with the all local music happenings.
So they can get amongst it, meet like-minded and supportive friends, and enjoy the healing powers of music!
It’s all published at yelo.live by professional journalists, and from there shared across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and other popular platforms which bring tens of thousands of views to our website each month.
Since launching Yelo, we’ve widened the Mooloolaba prawn net to take in some of our South-East Queensland neighbours, including Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
And sometimes we even catch up on some global music news, delivered by a cheeky seagull (chip included).
Through Yelo Media, we can offer promotional services to artists and bands.
Our message will always remain the same: heal the people with music.
Check out our Sunshine Coast monthly music magazine at Yelo.Live and we hope to see you at one of our favourite music venues soon!
Love, team Yelo
