Ampersand’s new EP brings host of young artists to Noosa

May 18, 20242 min read

Noosa funk-fusion favourites Ampersand will celebrate the release of their debut EP, “Entry Level”, on June 9.

Youth acts Henry Catania (pictured), Hati, Ella Joy, Harriette & Tatum and Moneyshot, will join them in the festivities, from 4-8pm.

Held at Land & Sea Brewery, it’s free entry thanks to Noosa Council’s RADF Grant program.

Unshakeable support key to success

Built from scratch with nothing but their own varied skillsets, Ampersand’s unshakeable support for each other sees them rise to each new challenge.

Keys player Jarrod Tutbury says Noosa locals treat them as family, and their encouragement has been integral to their success.

The band works effortlessly together, he says, improvising and conversing musically to create their sound.

“Originality” is the lead single on the new EP, produced at Yama-Nui Recording Studio (pictured).

The song is an ode to – you guessed it – originality. Jarrod says it’s something the music industry prides itself on.

“We were inspired by our experience with copycats, so the song calls out those individuals who can’t seem to find that self-motivation and inspiration within themselves without resorting to imitating others.”

The single has been funded by Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund, through Regional Arts Australia, and administered by Flying Arts Alliance.

Co-written and arranged by the entire group, “Originality” features Katie Brown and Isi Semmler on vocals; Jarrod Tutbury on keys; Jed Green on bass; and Orlando Hamilton-Craig on drums and percussion.

Guest artist Doc Hamilton is featured on guitar.
