Dakabin: Gone are the days you would send your husband to Dakabin for some peace of mind and to get rid of the household waste.
The team behind Sandstone Point Hotel and Eatons Hill Hotel have released pictures of their latest $35 million hotel project complete with restaurant, sports bar, TAB and gaming lounge – and even an indoor basketball court.
With works on the Dakabin Hotel development to start as early as January, the project also includes a $15m shopping precinct with boutique shops, cafes, and gym, spread over 3.75ha of land south of North Lakes.
There’s even a large outdoor area and playground for the kids.
Guzman Y Gomez, KFC, and a NightOwl service station, are some of the big name attractions.
Director Rob Comiskey said he hoped the community would be excited to see more dining and entertainment options closer to home.
“Dakabin Hotel itself will employ over 50 staff across both full-time and casual positions, and the overall centre should see 250 job opportunities,” he said.
The Comiskey Group is also bringing a major hotel and “Coachella”-style festival site to the Sunshine Coast.
When completed, the group’s $35 million development at Caloundra’s Aura development will be the Coast’s largest hotel and indoor music venue.
The group recently estimated their second Coast project – the proposed Coochin Fields festival venue – would inject $60 million into the region’s economy each year.
It comes as the group lodged the development application for the 150-hectare site last month.
