The Station’s Opening Weekend with see massive Aussie act Temper Trap kick off celebrations on Friday night with local four-piece, girl band Betty Taylor.

Betty Taylor bassist Claire Chittick (main photo) said she was pumped to be supporting such a big name act, and helping celebrate the opening of the Sunshine Coast’s newest live music venue.

“It feels so exciting to be a part of the grand opening of The Station, and have the opportunity to get up there and play, then watch the Temper Trap afterwards,” she said.

“I’m keen to see how the stage set-up is similar to when it was the Nightquarter, ’cause the shows I’ve been to there have always felt so massive.

“I have so many friends and family coming to the show, including the girls I teach piano to and some other friends’ kids.

“It’s sick to have a music venue on the Coast that can provide such a great space for all-ages shows, and for shows with a larger capacity.

“It’s also exciting to have a place on the Coast where we can enjoy all the different local craft beers in one place.”

Cheers to that!

Who is Betty Taylor?

Betty Taylor is the friend who holds your hand when your heart is broken.

A four-piece to be reckoned with, these gal pals have a reputation for captivating audiences when they perform live.

Despite only dropping their debut single, “Stallin’” in 2022, Betty Taylor has racked up an impressive number of support spots with Girl in Red, Pacific Avenue, The Terrys, Teenage Dads, The Rions, and Surf Trash.

The band is made up of Sophie Patrick, whose indie hooks and honest poignant lyrics are complemented by Kayla Smart’s beautiful harmonies and wistful guitar riffs. And helping them strike the perfect balance between power and charm, are Clare Chittick on bass, and Katie Ishaque on drums.

After premiering on Triple J radio’s Good Nights, Home and Hosed, and Best New Music with Richard Kingsmill, the band’s second single, “Glitter” was given significant air play.

Betty Taylor has also featured on Australian radio show, Hot Nights With Abbie Chatfield.
