Hidden deep in Noosa’s picturesque hinterland, Dragon Forest is set to come alive with the sounds of folk and psychedelic country on Sunday from 4pm.
The Heard: The Art and Heart of Sound is the first in a series of heart-thumping house concerts at Doonan, celebrating original music.
The event brings together Sunshine Coast artists Las Aguas, Julian & Alana Homewood (main picture) and Kumradu.
Julian, with his wife Alana, form The Homewood Sapiens, who draw inspiration from love, death, nature and spirituality.
With progressive, psychedelic and indie-folk, the couple take shots at the flaws of a capitalist society, leaving no one unscathed, including their own hypocrisy.
Down from the hills, Kumradu (pictured) is a blonde-haired storyteller, who grew up with old-timey tunes and black cockatoos.
Complete with a cheeky sense of humour, the folk-loving blues musician, is a self-confsessed occassional romantic, with a rapscallion spirit.
And Las Aguas will finish the night with a celebration for the senses.
This musical migration brings the simmering heat of South America to our sun-drenched shores, with a cultural exchange that transcends borders and melts away inhibitions.
Imagine a wild fiesta on the shores of Copacabana, where the soulful swagger of tango meets the electrifying pulse of Cumbia.
Throw in a dash of Latin jazz sophistication and the raw energy of candombe drumming, and you’ve got a taste of the Las Aguas magic.
