Coolum Beach: The Sunshine Coast’s most “wordy, worldly and worthy” spoken word event is back again for another incredible evening of poetry, music and community connection, on September 28.
This long-time local favourite poetry slam offers a new theme each month, with the first month of spring being “Culture Canvas”.
As locals can attest, the Liquid Lyrics atmosphere is electric, with an energy in the room that is contagious, fuelling each poet’s performance with an inspiring and supportive audience.
POETRY SLAM RULES
- Each poem must be three minutes, with a timer to subsequently commence
- One point is deducted for every minute over
- Judges are chosen randomly from the crowd
- Each piece must be original work
How fun does that sound!?
Whether you’re a seasoned poet or just dipping your toes into the poetic waters, “Culture Canvas” welcomes all voices.
Shed your fear, allow the community to embrace you, express your heritage, share your experiences, and celebrate the mosaic of traditions that shape us.
It’s an atmosphere for the utmost artists wanting to connect with fellow wordsmiths, and witness the magic of poetry fusing with culture.
“Step up to the mic and paint your emotions with words as diverse as the world itself,” promoters say.
“Let your verses explore the rich hues of different cultures, weaving stories that resonate across borders.
“Our poetry slam is a safe space for all voices. Applause, clicks, and cheers will uplift each poet and celebrate their unique expression.
“Join us for an enchanting evening of poetic brilliance at the “Culture Canvas” (and) immerse yourself in a tapestry of words, where cultures converge and creativity knows no bounds.”
