New Year’s Eve on the Gold Coast

Get ready to celebrate the end of 2023 with City of Gold Coast’s free New Year’s Eve fireworks displays and family-friendly events across the city.

The night skies will be lit up at Coomera, Broadwater Parklands, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Coolangatta to ring in the new year on Sunday, 31 December.

Broadwater Parklands and Coomera will also host full New Year’s Eve events for families to enjoy featuring entertainment, live music and activities for the kids.

“Finish the year in colourful style with fireworks displays along the coast or check out one of the two free family events at Broadwater Parklands and Coomera,” Mayor Tom Tate said.

“This is the perfect time to bring your family and friends together to reminisce on the year that was and look forward to all the opportunities ahead of us in 2024.”

New Year’s Eve in Coomera

When: 5pm to 8pm (fireworks at 8pm)

Where: Coomera Sports Park, 53 Beattie Rd, Coomera

Details: This is a family event with live entertainment, food trucks and fireworks display at 8pm.

Getting there: make your journey active and walk, ride, scoot or skate to the event, or carpool with friends. Plan your journey on public transport by jumping on jp.translink.com.au. There will be free limited parking onsite.

New Year’s Eve in Surfers Paradise

When: DJ from 5:30pm, fireworks display at 8pm and midnight

Where: Surfers Paradise Beach, Surfers Paradise

Details: Watch the sunset, then enjoy a meal at a large variety of restaurants beachside before the fireworks.

Getting there: Catch the G:link to Surfers Paradise or Cavill Avenue stations.

New Year’s Eve in Broadbeach

When: Fireworks display at 8pm and midnight

Where: Kurrawa Park, 167 Old Burleigh Road, Broadbeach

Details: Arrive early and enjoy a bite to eat in one of the many Broadbeach restaurants on offer. 

Getting there: Catch the G:link to Broadbeach North Station.

New Year’s Eve in Coolangatta 

When: Fireworks display at 9pm and midnight

Where: Queen Elizabeth Park, Coolangatta  

Details: Enjoy a meal beforehand at one of the many restaurants in Coolangatta or pack a picnic and set up on the beach to watch the fireworks display.

Getting there: Bike, scooter or walk, or find public transport by jumping on jp.translink.com.au

Moonlight Magic New Year’s Eve Party

When: 4pm to 8pm (fireworks at 8pm)

Where: The Great Lawn, Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade Southport 
Details: The biggest New Year’s Eve party on the Gold Coast for families with live magic shows, live music, face painting, bubble play, glow games, stilt walkers, food trucks, giveaways and a spectacular fireworks display.

Getting there: Limited parking available onsite. Additional parking at Carey Park. Leave the car at home and catch HOPO or the G:Link.
