Sunshine Coast live music trailblazer Andrea Kirwin has announced she will run a new LGBTQIA+ singalong group with her good friend and fellow muso Angela Newcomb.
“The rumours are true,” Andrea says.
“(We) are starting a Community Choir – Peace Run Records Rainbow Choir on the Sunshine Coast!
“My wife Claire Evelynn and I had such a wonderful time last weekend witnessing Brisbane Pride Choir that we were inspired to start a social, LGBTQIA+ singalong group in our neighbourhood, where we cam learn songs together that inspire joy, harmony and are fun and inclusive in a safe environment.
“I’ve asked my good friend Angela Newcomb to co-facilitate the choir with me so you will have not one but two singer-songwriting choir captains who also like to dress up in drag occasionally as Joji and Antonio!
“Members of our LGBTQIA+ community and our straight allies are welcome to join our non-audition choir.
“It will be fun, fabulous and a great way to share the love of singing! Here’s to sharing more music and good times and the occasional pop up gig at a Festival in SE QLD I’m sure!”
Rehearsals will run onTuesday evenings at Kureelpa Hall starting on Tuesday 9 July and run for 10 weeks alongside the school term.
Email Andrea at bookings@peacerunrecords.com for more information and to sign up.
Kureelpa Hall is on the corner of Jewett and Nambour-Mapleton Roads, Kureelpa.
