The US trio will open their Australian tour in Queensland, following the release of their first studio album in five years.

Dinosaur Jr. are heading back to Queensland, with a Brisbane show locked in for January 19, 2027.
The show at The Fortitude Music Hall is the only Queensland date on a six-stop Australia and New Zealand run.
A new record for the road
Their latest record, There Near, follows 2021’s Sweep It Into Space.
Guitarist and vocalist J Mascis, bassist and vocalist Lou Barlow and drummer Murph recorded the album in bursts over a year at Bisquiteen Studio in Amherst, with piano and organ contributions from Ken Mauri.
For Mascis, part of the process involved revisiting a guitar sound from the band’s earliest days. A recently acquired 1970s Mesa Boogie MK 1 amplifier helped him reconnect with the tone used on their first record.
Barlow contributes two songs, ‘Blowin’ Up’ and ‘No One’s Ready’, to a record that keeps the band’s mix of melody, loose vocals and unruly guitars at its centre.
