Opera legend José Carreras will celebrate his 80th birthday with a major one-night concert at The Gabba, joined by Robbie Williams, Ronan Keating, The Corrs, Darren Hayes and more.
José Carreras is heading to Brisbane for a huge stadium celebration, with Carreras & Friends announced for The Gabba on Saturday, December 5, 2026.
Carreras is one of the world’s most famous opera singers, best known as one of The Three Tenors alongside Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo.
The Brisbane setting is tied closely to the city’s 2032 Olympic build-up, with Carreras reportedly drawn to the same kind of pre-Olympic energy he experienced in Barcelona before the 1992 Games.
The one-night-only concert will mark the Spanish tenor’s 80th birthday and bring together a major crossover lineup spanning opera, pop and classic Australian radio favourites.
The bill includes a huge lineup with Robbie Williams, Ronan Keating, The Corrs, Ann Wilson, Darren Hayes, Natalie Imbruglia and Katherine Jenkins. The show is backed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and choir.
Carreras is one of the world’s most recognised tenors, known globally as part of The Three Tenors alongside Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo.
The Brisbane concert has been announced in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland, adding another major stadium event to the state’s growing live music and arts calendar.
For Brisbane, it is a rare crossover moment: an opera icon at a major sporting stadium, joined by a lineup that reaches well beyond the classical world.
The event follows the style of large-scale “and friends” concerts, bringing guest artists together for a mix of solo performances, collaborations and orchestra-backed moments.
Carreras & Friends will take place at The Gabba, Brisbane, on Saturday, December 5, 2026.
Tickets go on sale on June 15.
