Australian singer-songwriter Phil Jamieson, best known as the frontman of iconic Australian rock band Grinspoon, has announced a new single, a new album and a major national tour, marking a big new chapter in his solo career.
New track “Weekends” is out now, while Jamieson’s second solo album “10Charlie” is due for release on August 14. To support the record, he will also head out on a huge run of Australian dates under the PJ AIR banner, taking in more than 40 shows across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
The tour is one of Jamieson’s biggest solo runs yet, with stops planned at theatres, breweries and local pubs around the country.
“Weekends” is the first taste of “10Charlie”, a record that leans further into Jamieson’s storytelling instincts while blending reflective lyrics, ambient guitar textures and the voice that first made him one of Australia’s best-known alternative rock frontmen.
“Weekends. It’s a destination. It’s a place among the tall pines. It’s a restaurant / bar / coffee shop / diner. You can go to Weekends on a Monday. It’s a place to agree or disagree,” Jamieson said.
“The song is built around intimacy and hope. And it has some fun guitars.”

New album “10Charlie” follows a more personal path
Jamieson said “10Charlie” is more personal than his debut solo record, shaped by intense periods of turbulence and reflection.
The album reunites him with producer Oscar Dawson and also features collaborations with Davey Lane, Rob Muinos, Ben Edgar and Soph Ozard. Across the record, Jamieson moves between meditative and more volatile moments, building a set of songs grounded in self-examination and emotional honesty.
“This album is much more personal than my first record. In times of intense turbulence, I’ve written what I’ve needed to hear,” he said.
“It’s a balm for my soul. 10Charlie is a boarding pass. You are not in the exit row, your luggage can be stored under the seat in front of you. Please follow all cabin crew directions and fasten your seat belt for take off.”
The PJ AIR tour will bring the new songs to venues and communities across Australia, while also folding in fan favourites from across Jamieson’s catalogue. The run puts a spotlight on the kinds of grassroots rooms and local music spaces that have long shaped Australian touring culture.
“PJ AIR is a BIG adventure. My co-pilot is Ricky Albeck and I can’t wait to play for you all. Songs will be sung and stories will be told,” Jamieson said.
“Weekends” is out now. “10Charlie” is due out on August 14, with tickets for the PJ AIR tour on sale from 9am local time on Monday, April 13 via Phil Jamieson’s website.
