Rock and hip-hop have combined for a new song from local legends Pricey and Wigs.

They officially release their genre-bending song, “Smile”, at Morts Brewery, Nambour, on Saturday night.

Have a listen to “Smile” and tell us what you think!

Long-haired rocker Josh Price, AKA Pricey, is a founding member and the former lead guitarist of Sunshine Coast punk rock band The Chats.

He was with his rapper mate Jesse Higgins, AKA Wigs, recording at Jampot Studios when the song idea arose.

“We were working on a few Wigs tracks and had some spare time left over. I had half a song written so I decided to record it.”

Jesse took a chance at freestyling some lyrics, nailing his efforts in one take.

Good enough for a release

“We were both so happy with the result that we decided it was good enough for a release,” Josh says.

“We have grown up together over the years, always thinking of ideas and wanting to make something happen, but it never did until now.

“We are super excited to share this with you. I learnt a lot from that experience with Wigs.

Advice for emerging artists

“Sometimes the best advice is to let it be. Let it happen naturally and no plans are the best plans.

“It’s an organic, fun way of expressing ourselves through what we love the most.

“Music it’s meant to be easy.”
