Sam Holden will officially kick off his 3 Year Project journey (pictured) at The Presynct in Nambour on February 21.

It’s the first show for the father-of-three who set a “Mt Everest” goal to play at Glastonbury Festival in 2027.

After receiving a painful diagnosis of arthritis and facing surgery, Sam wanted to give music one last shot.

However, the Baringa resident knew if he was going to be a professional musician at the age of 42 he needed to act. And fast.

Sam had two albums out by the time he was 22. But a career in engineering and raising a young family, all took precedent over his love for music.

His songs were put on ice for 20 years. Until now.

Sam Holden’s old music is now the 3 Year Project

Using earlier demos (which you can listen to on Spotify), Sam hired four local session musicians to recreate the music.

While they are already six months into their journey, 3 Year Project are yet to release their first song.

Expected at the end of February, their debut single will coincide with their show at The Presynct.

As part of their Glastonbury plan, the musicians will play 100 gigs across Australia and overseas, in three years.

Sam has taken his herculean idea next level by hoping to raise money for charities such as HeadSpace.

He hopes his project inspires others that it’s never to late to dream big.

And when it’s all done and dusted? He passes the baton to the next big dreamer.
