Sunshine Coast artists are battling it out in a competition which will see one act play alongside Pseudo Echo, Thirsty Merc and Jebediah at the Airlie Beach Festival of Music on November 8-10.
Tom Neilson was the first to win a final place in the Passport To Airlie competition at the Kings Beach Tavern last Thursday, with punk rock lads The Drop Beers taking out the first place in the second round on Tuesday.
Earth Sign won tonight, and there’s one more heat on July 9, with a final on July 26.
A final will be held on July 26 from 7pm-10pm.
What is Passport to Airlie?
Passport to Airlie is one of Australia’s largest live, original music initiatives, with auditions held in regional areas nation-wide to allow for a broad range of genres, participants and audiences.
The festival gives venues, musicians and local industry the opportunity to showcase the many incredible performers in their communities and their diverse talents.
Other host cities include Mackay, Newcastle, Melbourne, Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Cairns and Darwin.
The winning prize:
The winning act from each region heads to Airlie Beach to compete in the grand finals and also receives:
- 4 nights accommodation for up to five members
- 3-Day VIP Festival Passes including food and drinks
- $1000 performance fee
- Media opportunities
- The chance to play their own music in paradise at the Airlie Beach Festival of Music on November 8-10!
