Hussy Hicks is a hit

August 29, 20232 min read

I came for Hussy Hicks and left with a whole lot more than I bargained for!

When my step-dad suggested I go with him and my Mum to see the Hussy at the iconic Imperial Hotel in Eumundi I immediately snapped up the offer.

This band is a long-time favourite of his and I too become a firm fan after nights spent on their hinterland deck, blasting music into the mountains and crooning to the cows in the neighbouring paddocks.

When booking the tickets I hadn’t realised there would be a host of other performers and bands fresh from the Gympie Muster, where they had all been performing that day.

I also didn’t expect to be blown away by the sheer talent, high energy and passion of seasoned alternative country legends.

The stand out was Larry Mitchell, all the way from the USA, whose finger work on the electric guitar was spine tingling.

As he stepped off the stage and wound his way amongst the spellbound crowd, he managed to pick up even the most tired of concert goers, many of which had been boot-scooting for days prior at the Muster.

Hussy Hicks gave a stand-out performance which included a very special guest, front-woman Lisa’s very own dad on harmonica.  A special moment indeed.

The Imperial Hotel didn’t disappoint and held its own as the Sunshine Coast hinterland’s premiere venue for live music.

The upstairs music room provided plenty of room for revellers to dance the night away, while also providing seating and tables for those with tired legs.

The well-stocked upstairs bar gave those with tickets to the event a rest from going up and down the stairs to the main bar downstairs, and amenities were in abundance.

Keep your eyes on the Imperial Hotel website for the latest up and coming gigs, or of course, Yelo ground-zero for all your live music needs.  Peace out folks.
