Blink-182 Spark Violent Soho Reunion Talk at Sydney Opera House

March 22, 20261 min read

Blink-182 have sparked fresh talk of a reunion for Brisbane alternative rock band Violent Soho during a Sydney Opera House appearance.

Currently on their Australian tour, Mark Hoppus made a surprise appearance at the iconic Sydney landmark for an intimate acoustic set, where he brought members of the alternative band on stage.

He told the crowd the band would be getting back together; a comment that quickly spread across social media.

Violent Soho dominated Australia’s 2010s heavy scene, but have been on an indefinite hiatus since 2022.

Known for favourite tracks “Covered in Chrome” and “Jesus Stole My Girlfriend”, their absence has been widely felt across the music community.

The Sydney appearance wasn’t part of Blink-182’s main arena shows, but a smaller, special performance while the band are in the country. They’ve been touring Australia throughout March, with shows across major cities before continuing their international run.

While it’s unclear how Violent Soho ended up in the mix, the moment was enough to reignite long-standing hopes.

For now, we wait for confirmation that one of the defining bands of their era will reunite.

But it’s the closest the idea of a Violent Soho return has felt in a long time.
