Australia’s biggest country music fest descends on Ipswich

September 26, 20232 min read

It’s time to dust off your boots and Akubras for Australia’s biggest country music festival CMC Rocks QLD at Ipswich on March 17.

The Willowbank Raceway event has seen major acts in the past such as Luke Combs, Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan and The Chicks.

A full artist line-up will be announced in the coming months.

Festival brings millions to local economy

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding says the city is excited to welcome back the event, which is expected to inject $11 million into the local economy.

“Ipswich has cemented itself as the home of country music and CMC Rocks QLD,” Cr Harding says.

“We are thrilled to welcome international artists and visitors from all over the country to kick their heels up here in Ipswich.”

“We have hosted the festival since 2015, and since then we’ve seen the reputation and popularity of the event grow and grow.

“CMC Rocks QLD is one of Ipswich’s major events for the year and we are proud to be a major sponsor and supporter of live music.”

Economic and Industry Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Nicole Jonic says CMC Rocks helps to increase Ipswich’s profile and tourism industry.

“CMC Rocks grows in ticket sales year to year, topping 23,000 in 2023 compared to 22,000 in 2022, with 90 per cent of ticket buyers from outside the city,” Cr Jonic says.

“This is the southern hemisphere’s largest international country music festival, and it generates more than 61,000 visitor nights in Ipswich, attracting about 19,000 visitors to this beautiful city.

“These festival-goers stay in our hotels and eat at our cafes and restaurants, sharing their experiences with all their friends and family, so it’s a great chance for Ipswich to showcase all we have to offer.”

CMC Rocks QLD returns to Ipswich from March 15 to 17 March, 2024.
