Bunnings Warehouse can officially add “rave venue” to its portfolio after some of Australia’s biggest DJs performed to 1000 people in Melbourne last night.
The hardware giant’s first rave party was the result of a successful month-long social media campaign, started by 19-year-old TikTok creator DJ Kaila, AKA Mackenzie Collins.
Mackenzie crafted a remix of the Bunnings jingle and floated the idea with his audience, soon catching the eyes of major acts Peking Duk and What So Not.
Once Bunnings was on board, Mackenzie’s idea was a fully-fledged, nation-wide campaign, giving fans the power to decide which store should host the rave.
Two weeks ago they announced the rave would be held at Preston in the Bunnings carpark, and tickets to the event sold out in five minutes.
What So Not told Channel 9 news he had flown in from Burning Man in the US, just hours before the show saying, “I literally just got off a plane.”
Peking Duk will be on the Sunshine Coast for the Big Pineapple Festival on October 19.
Proceeds from the night’s sausages and ticket sales will go to Support Act, which helps those struggling in the music industry.
The Bunnings Warehouse Party also featured LOTTIE and NAYNAY.
