A new 500-capacity country bar with two stages and a mechanical bull is preparing to open in the former Solbar space at Maroochydore later this month.
Coyote’s Roadhouse is expected to open at the entrance to Big Top Shopping Centre on Ocean Street in late September, giving the precinct a new live-music venue months after Solbar closed its doors.
Hallmark Hospitality says the country and western saloon will have two stages dedicated to live country music, space for dancing and capacity for up to 500 people.
The hospitality group recently opened Foxy Malone’s Irish Pub in Mooloolaba and has previously operated venues including Lefty’s Music Hall on Caxton Street, The Lord Alfred Hotel and The Spotted Cow Hotel.
Hallmark Hospitality director Cade Hopman described the new venue as a “full-blown, live music country and western saloon bar”.
Beyond the stages, the venue is set to include a mechanical bull, country-themed pinball machines, pool tables, electronic darts and a Big Buck Hunter arcade game.
A country-inspired drinks list and smokehouse-style menu are also planned.
Live music returns to the former Solbar site
The opening will put live music back inside one of Ocean Street’s best-known music spaces.
Solbar closed in February after 15 years in Ocean Street, with its owners pointing to rising operating costs and declining ticket, food and beverage sales.
The new operator is giving the venue a complete country-themed redesign led by Gold Coast studio Space Cubed, using reclaimed timber, corrugated metal, worn leather and rodeo memorabilia.
An exact opening date and the first live lineup are still to be announced.
YELO will update this story when the program drops.
