Laneway Festival will return to Brisbane in 2027 after spending a year on the Gold Coast as the national festival reduces its Australian run.
The festival has confirmed its Queensland leg will move back to Brisbane Showgrounds next year following its 2026 event at Southport Sharks on the Gold Coast.
The move comes as Laneway makes a significant change to its national footprint, with Adelaide and Perth both being left off the 2027 tour.
Laneway returns to Brisbane
Laneway’s 2027 run will include Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland, with dates, artists and ticket details still to be announced.
The festival said staging so many shows across Australia and New Zealand within a short period placed considerable demands on its artists and crew.
“Taking a pause allows us to focus on making the festival the best it can be,” organisers said.
Laneway said dropping Adelaide and Perth would also give touring artists more opportunity to stage their own headline shows in cities outside the festival circuit. Organisers stressed the decision was a break rather than a permanent exit from either city.
Gold Coast loses Laneway after one year
The 2026 festival marked a rare move away from Brisbane, with the Queensland event held at Southport Sharks on the Gold Coast.
It will now head back to Brisbane Showgrounds for 2027, returning the festival to the city after its one-year absence.
The 2027 lineup and festival dates are yet to be announced.
