Large Mirage have a new single, ‘Watching’, and two December dates near the Queensland border, including an all-ages Gold Coast gig and a Byron Bay show supporting Skegss.
Large Mirage will play an all-ages show at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse in Burleigh Heads on Sunday, December 6, a day after joining Skegss at Byron Bay’s Beach Hotel.
The Sydney rock band released ‘Watching’ on October 20. It is the second single from their forthcoming EP Wildfire, and draws on the band’s heavy, guitar-led psychedelic sound.
The song looks at the relationship between technology, surveillance and social approval. Band member Kolya Chan described the theme as the shift from watching the world to being watched by devices.
“WATCHING is what we used to do when we had time on our wrists,” Chan said in the band’s announcement.
Recorded live without click tracks or samples, the single was produced with Michael Badger, whose credits include King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Amyl and the Sniffers.
Large Mirage have previously supported AC/DC at Sydney’s Accor Stadium. Their current tour also includes dates in New South Wales and Victoria.
