Peregian Beach Hotel will keep its Vinyl Nights series rolling through spring as the Sunshine Coast’s appetite for dance and electronic music continues to grow.
The regular DJ sessions at Peregian Beach Hotel’s il Porto have drawn strong enough crowds for the venue to keep them running through spring.
“Vinyl Nights have been going really well so we’ll keep them going for Spring,” PBH’s Kylie Plunkett said.
The next sessions will feature Ryskee on September 12, followed by Karlos on September 26.
Ryskee, who heads local underground house brand Spicy Tech, has also played Shipwrecked Festival in New Zealand, SASH Brisbane, Earth Frequency Festival and Love Camp.
The decision comes as electronic and dance music continues to build momentum across the Sunshine Coast, from recurring pub sessions to major festival lineups.
Sunshine Coast crowds want to dance
Sunny Side Up is one of the clearest signs of that appetite.
Its first Aussie World edition sold out, and the festival returns on Saturday, September 5, led by Pendulum DJ Set, What So Not and Hot Dub Time Machine.
The wider bill includes Anna Lunoe, Habstrakt, Latifa Tee, Raw Ordio and a strong contingent of local electronic artists.
Aussie World will host more dance programming later this year, with its Halloween Weekender running across October 30 and 31.
The two-night event will include Will Sparks, Touch Sensitive, Little Fritter and a DJ set from Lime Cordiale, alongside a mix of electronic, disco and indie dance music.
It points to a scene spreading beyond occasional touring shows, with electronic music now turning up across festivals, pubs, hospitality venues and recurring local events.
From pub gigs to festival stages
Few local acts reflect that shift better than Raw Ordio.
The Sunshine Coast electronic outfit built a loyal following on the local pub circuit before moving onto larger events and festival stages.
The group has since appeared on major Coast bills, been named among Sunshine Coast Music Awards finalists and headlined the Village Main Stage at Noosa Food & Wine Festival.
They will also perform at Sunny Side Up on Saturday.
PBH has been part of that pathway too, with Raw Ordio among the artists to have appeared on the venue’s live music program.
Spring live music at Peregian Beach Hotel
Vinyl Nights will sit alongside PBH’s wider live music program through September.
Sari Abbott returns to the venue on Sunday, September 6, at 3pm, after first playing there as a teenager.
Other September artists include Andrea Kirwin, Jesse Taylor, Anna & Jordan, Che Burns, Saltburn, Simon Meola and Matilda & Jarrod.
The response to Vinyl Nights is another sign that the Coast’s dance music appetite is filtering down from festival stages into regular venue programming.
