Powderfinger are officially getting back together for an Australian tour in 2027.
The Brisbane band confirmed the reunion on Friday, October 9, bringing an end to days of speculation surrounding the mysterious Electric Horsemen campaign.
Bernard Fanning, John “JC” Collins, Ian Haug, Darren Middleton and Jon Coghill appeared together in a video announcing their return. Shows will begin around Australia from September 2027.
Powderfinger tour dates and tickets
The full dates, venues and ticketing information are due to be announced on Monday, October 12, at 5am Queensland time (AEST). The band’s update gives the time as 6am AEDT.
That is the time for the next announcement, rather than a confirmed ticket-sale opening. Queensland dates, Brisbane venues, presale times and ticket prices have not yet been detailed.

From reunion clues to confirmation
Earlier this week, cryptic billboards and an account called The Return of the Electric Horsemen sent fans searching for clues. References to the band’s history fuelled speculation before Powderfinger acknowledged the campaign.
YELO contacted drummer Jon Coghill during the build-up. His response was brief: “Hi Penny, sorry I can’t comment.” Read our earlier coverage of the Electric Horsemen campaign and Jon’s reply.
A return 16 years after the farewell
Powderfinger’s 2010 farewell tour sold more than 200,000 tickets across 34 shows. The band later reunited remotely for the One Night Lonely charity livestream in 2020.
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli has also raised the prospect of a regional Queensland show, recalling Powderfinger’s 2010 Sunsets farewell concert in Townsville as the best gig he had ever attended.
For the fans who grew up with their songs, today’s news finally turns the reunion rumours into something to look forward to.
