Punk Banana Universe Lands at YELO

January 24, 20262 min read

Shop the Punk Banana collection at yelo.live/shop. Stay tuned as the Punk Banana universe grows.

———————————————————— × × × × ————————————————————

Punk Banana Universe is the newest odd little corner of YELO: a small, weird, sunny world for gig people, local music lovers and anyone who still believes a good T-shirt can improve a weekend.

Gig culture, music lore and sunshine rebellion

Punk Banana started as a character and turned into a little universe. It sits somewhere between the gig guide, the merch table, the beach car park and the weird conversations you end up having after seeing a band on a sticky floor.

It is part local music, part low-brow art and part Sunshine Coast nonsense. A place for the punters, bands, venue lurkers, playlist makers, skate rats, surf kids and gig gremlins who keep showing up.

This is not polished scene cosplay. It is loud, imperfect, DIY and built around the small rituals that make live music feel like home: finding a new band, following a gig trail, buying the shirt, making a mate, spilling something and doing it all again next weekend.

The original Punk Banana character was created by Sunshine Coast artist Adam Niven (builtfromboxes), whose playful low-brow style brought the skateboarding banana gig monster to life.

From there, the banana started causing trouble across T-shirts, totes, stickers and iced latte cups. The first pieces now sit inside YELO Goods, with more odd little things planned as the Punk Banana universe grows.

Shop the Punk Banana collection

The first drop includes Punk Banana T-shirts, a canvas tote, stickers and an iced latte cup made for cold drinks, beach runs, gig nights and sunny little errands.

You can shop the collection through YELO Shop, or keep an eye on the Punk Banana Facebook group as the community side starts to take shape.

Whether you are here for the music, the merch, the people or the next strange little banana idea, welcome to the Punk Banana universe.

Stay YELO.

Your guide to happy. Spreading sunshine and live music energy across the Coast since 2023.
