Bobby Alu is a Gold Coast musical treasure
One of the Gold Coast’s many musical treasures, Bobby blends coastal folk with island vibes and soulful grooves.

An ARIA Award nominee, Alu is a true ambassador of the pacific spirit, bringing joy and positivity to every performance.

He joins an incredible lineup including iconic Aussie rock band Regurgitator (main picture). They play at Vinnies on November 17 and 18.
Australian hip-hop and funk master DJ Katch will spin some tunes on November 18.
DJ Katch is one of the most influential of his kind, collaborating with big names such as Abstract Rude and The Pharcyde.
He is also a founding member of Resin Dogs and Hydrofunk Records, and is a master of turntables and samplers.
Southport Special Entertainment Precinct joins two more
The Gold Coast City Council SEP joins two other precincts already established in Brisbane and Nambour.

It redefines zoning restrictions in specified areas allowing smaller venues such as restaurants and bars to play louder music.
Mayor Tom Tate told Yelo Mag the SEP is based on Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley model.
It’s aim is “to separate noise management from the Office of Liquor and Gaming in order for this to be managed by Council”, he says.
“Three live music venues have signed licenses with the City (including Vinnies) and a campaign is being developed to encourage more applications.
“This is the first project in this space which has taken many years to complete. Other proposals will be considered as the need and demand from stakeholders arise.”
Locals can expect a whole week of music, dancing, food, art and culture, with three venues, six stages, 21 street performers, and 150 artists over seven days.
There will be soul, Latin, Brazilian, afro and reggae, hip-hop, rock, punk, hard core and everything in between.
