A Noosa ukulele group left without a regular practice spot after being removed from Noosa Marina has found a new home at Royal Mail Tewantin.
The Parkbench Ukulele Players will start playing again at Royal Mail Tewantin, after several weeks without a home.
The group was recently removed from Noosa Marina, where members had gathered and played on the open-air waterfront pier for six years.
In a post to the Parkbench Ukulele Players Facebook group, Terry Nolan said the group would return on Wednesday, November 8.
“This Wednesday (November 8) we will be starting up again thanks to the management of the Royal Mail Hotel allowing us to use their bistro area,” he wrote.
Set-up will take place between 9.30am and 10am, with the session expected to finish about 11.30am.
Noosa Marina removal still unclear
Noosa Marina was contacted by YELO for comment, but it remains unclear why the group was removed from the pier.
Noosa Shire Council has denied any involvement in the decision.
Deputy Mayor Frank Wilkie said Council had reached out to the group’s organisers to see if it could help them find a new practice spot.
“Council did not receive any complaints and has not been involved except to help find a new home for them,” Cr Wilkie said.
Group welcomes new Tewantin home
Group member Jenny Ward welcomed the news, thanking those involved in finding the players a new place to gather.
“Thanks for all your hard work setting this up for us,” she said.
Christine Riou also welcomed the move.
“Good job, awesome news!! Hats off to all involved in making this happen,” she said.
