Regurgitator help Vinnies celebrate fifth birthday

October 15, 20232 min read

Iconic Brisbane band Regurgitator, AKA The ‘Gurge, will help Vinnies Dive Bar on the Gold Coast ring in five years.

The Aussie 90s rockstars take up residency at the venue for two days on November 17 and 18.

The ‘Gurge, who brought us “Polyester Girl” and “!(The Song Formerly Known As)” will join local bands to celebrate.

They will play with Voiid, Brixton Alley and Prink on November 17. And on November 18 they play alongside Mitch, Please and Anty.

Regurgitator will play at Vinnie’s Dive Bar on November 17 and 18 from 7.30pm both days.

Nighttime precinct will also join celebrations

Vinnies is also celebrating collaborative efforts with Gold Coast Council, who recently announced the Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP) at Southport.

The SEP joins sister precincts in Brisbane and Nambour, making them three of their kind in Australia.

Aimed to re-define zoning restrictions, the precincts allow smaller venues such as restaurants and bars to play louder music.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate says the move will separate noise management from the Office of Liquor and Gaming. This will give Council more power to manage the restrictions.

“Three live music venues have signed licenses with the City (including Vinnie’s),” Cr Tate says. “And a campaign is being developed to encourage more applications.

“This is the first project in this space which has taken many years to complete. Other proposals will be considered as the need and demand from stakeholders arise.”

Southport party to welcome Special Entertainment Precinct

Vinnies, Mr P.P.’s Deli and Rooftop, and Last Night on Earth are celebrating the SEP with Southport Downtown Live.

From November 13-19, locals can expect a whole week of music, dancing, food, art and culture.

Music will range from Latin, Brazilian, afro, reggae, soul, hip-hop, rock, punk and hardcore.

There will be six stages, 21 street performers, and 150 artists over seven days.
