The Rubens will bring their new album Group Therapy to Blackflag Brewing Coolum in October, with Selve along for the ride.
The Rubens have added a Sunshine Coast stop to their national Group Therapy Tour, landing at Blackflag Brewing Coolum on Thursday, October 29.
Selve will open the 6pm show before the five-piece heads south to Brisbane’s Tivoli the following night.
The run follows the October 16 release of Group Therapy, The Rubens’ sixth studio album.
After pushing further into synths and autotune on 2024 album SODA, the band has swung back towards guitars. The new record was tracked live in the room at their Camden studio with producer Konstantin Kersting, who has worked with Spacey Jane, DMA’S and Genesis Owusu.

The album title partly grew out of frontman Sam Margin’s experience with sobriety and therapy while making the record, as well as the band’s idea of a live show as its own kind of group therapy.
Fans have already heard Goanna, Are You Getting High and Love Me America from the album.
There’s another welcome detail for punters: The Rubens have deliberately kept ticket prices down on this run as cost-of-living pressure continues to bite.
YELO last caught The Rubens on the Coast at a sold-out Kings Beach Tavern show in 2024 during their Masterpiece tour.
