US heavy-metal giants TOOL will headline Good Things Festival (16+) in December, it has been announced.
The alternate music festival – which last year brought Korn, Smashing Pumpkin’s Billy Corgan and Violent Femmes to Australia – returns to Melbourne on December 5, Sydney on December 6, and Brisbane on December 7.
Joining them, in an eclectic musical lineup which is sure to turn up the nostalgia, is rock outfit Weezer, 90s icons Garbage, and Australian Crawl frontman James Reyne.
The Music.com.au predicted TOOL could be a major contender for the festival after the band announced two dates in Japan, one week after Good Things.
TOOL rose to prominence in the early-00s, and were a dominant force in the alt-metal movement.
They have won four Grammys, with songs like “Stinkfist”, which ranked number 2 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 in 1996, and fan-favourite “Schism”, known for its complex rhythms and changing meters.
This will be TOOL’s first festival headline since their Big Day Out performance in 2011. And their first Australian tour in more than five years.
