Tewantin: A ukulele group which was banned from playing at Noosa Marina has found a new home at Royal Mail Tewantin.
The group was recently kicked off the open-air waterfront pier where they had played for six years, leaving them homeless for weeks.
Terry Nolan wrote in the Parkbench Ukulele Players Facebook group: “This Wednesday (November 8) we will be starting up again thanks to the management of the Royal Mail Hotel allowing us to use their bistro area.”
Set up is between 9.30am-10.00am, finishing around 11.30am.
Noosa Marina was contacted for comment from YELO but it still remains unclear why the group was removed with Noosa Shire Council denying any involvement.
Deputy Mayor Frank Wilkie said Council had reached out to the group’s organisers to see if they could them find a new practice spot.
“Council did not receive any complaints and has not been involved except to help find a new home for them,” Cr Wilkie said.
Group member Jenny Ward welcomed the news saying “thanks for all your hard work setting this up for us”.
Christine Riou agreed.
“Good job, awesome news!! Hats off to all involved in making this happen.”
