The Sunshine Coast live music map has changed, but there are still plenty of rooms worth leaving the house for.

The closures of Solbar and The Station left enormous gaps in the region’s touring circuit, but the local scene did not disappear with them.

Independent band rooms, breweries, pubs, theatres and community spaces are still presenting original artists, touring acts, festivals and regular live entertainment from Caloundra to Noosa and the hinterland.

Whether you are visiting or a local trying to work out where the music has gone, these are some of the Sunshine Coast’s standout live music venues right now.

For a broader list, browse YELO’s complete Sunshine Coast Live Music Venues Guide.

1. Norton Music Factory, Caloundra West

Hidden inside the Caloundra West industrial estate, Norton Music Factory is one of the Sunshine Coast’s most distinctive independent band rooms.

Owned by local musician and guitar maker Liam Norton, the venue grew out of a custom guitar workshop and now hosts rock, metal, blues, country, tribute shows and national touring artists.

The industrial setting, guitar-lined walls and obvious love of live music give Norton a personality that would be difficult to manufacture. It feels less like a conventional pub venue and more like being invited into an enormous musician’s shed.

2. The Presynct, Nambour

The Presynct live music venue in Nambour

Run by creative mother-and-daughter duo Rusty and Cherry Nyman, The Presynct has become one of the Coast’s most character-filled live music venues.

The steampunk and Art Deco-inspired room moves freely between indie rock, punk, metal, jazz, blues, electronic music, hip-hop, burlesque and songwriter events.

Cherry serves bespoke cocktails, including a strong alcohol-free list, while Rusty runs front of house. The result feels personal, eclectic and proudly independent, with a strong focus on giving local artists somewhere to perform.

3. Blackflag Brewing, Coolum

Blackflag’s Coolum compound has become one of the region’s most important destinations for larger rock, punk, metal and alternative shows.

The production brewery regularly transforms into a warehouse-style concert venue for national touring acts, album launches and mini-festivals. The industrial setting gives larger shows room to move without losing the loose, slightly chaotic energy people expect from Blackflag.

It is loud, informal and unapologetically different from the polished coastal venues usually associated with the Sunshine Coast.

4. Blackflag Brewing, Mooloolaba

Blackflag’s original Mooloolaba bar is smaller than its Coolum compound, but it is quickly becoming one of the most interesting spaces in the local music scene.

Hidden down a back alley near Mooloolaba Beach, the punk-rock taphouse hosts regular Friday and Sunday music alongside a growing run of free local shows.

Blackflag also appears willing to experiment with what a music event can look like. Its winter 2026 calendar included a multi-genre DJ night with free haircuts on site, a Fourth of July punk show, an Indie Invasion showcase, a heavy music night and a local single launch.

That mix of live music, art, DJs, community collaborations and slightly unhinged ideas gives the room a clear identity. It is not trying to recreate a conventional pub gig. It is building its own culture.

5. Kings Beach Tavern, Caloundra

Live music at Kings Beach Tavern in Caloundra

Kings Beach Tavern remains one of the Sunshine Coast’s major touring stops, combining a beachside pub with a dedicated live entertainment program.

The Beach Bar hosts national touring artists, DJs and local performers across indie rock, hip-hop, electronic music, punk and surf rock.

It is also an easy place to build a full night around. You can eat, watch the ocean, see a band and stay out considerably later than planned without changing venues.

6. The Shed at Banana Bender Pub, Palmview

The Shed at Banana Bender Pub gives larger touring shows and festivals another place to land between Brisbane and the northern Sunshine Coast.

The covered event space hosts rock, blues, roots, tribute shows, comedy, community events and festivals, with enough room for productions that would overwhelm a small bar stage.

The combination of a large live room, corrugated roof and giant roadside banana gives the whole experience a distinctly Queensland character.

7. The J, Noosa Junction

The J is Noosa’s main theatre-style live music and performing arts venue, hosting touring artists, seated concerts, festivals, comedy, dance, film and theatre.

Shows here feel more focused than a pub gig. Audiences arrive specifically for the performance, settle into their seats and generally pay attention rather than talking over the quiet parts.

Its program ranges from contemporary touring musicians and jazz to classical performances, community productions and major arts events.

8. The Events Centre, Caloundra

The Events Centre is the Sunshine Coast’s largest performing arts venue and the place to look for full-scale seated concerts, theatre productions and national touring shows.

This is not a sweaty back-room gig. It offers formal staging, theatre seating and the technical production required by artists and productions that sit outside the pub and brewery circuit.

The program covers Australian touring performers, bands, orchestral music, musical theatre, comedy and family productions.

9. Imperial Hotel Eumundi

Live music at the Imperial Hotel Eumundi

The historic Imperial Hotel sits opposite the Eumundi Markets and remains one of the hinterland’s best-known live music destinations.

Regular performers take over the beer garden, while its dedicated band room hosts ticketed concerts, touring artists and tribute shows.

The combination of an old Queensland pub, an active brewery and a long association with live music makes it more than somewhere to stop after visiting the markets.

10. Villa Noosa Hotel, Noosaville

If you have caught a touring rock show in Noosa, there is a reasonable chance it happened at Villa Noosa Hotel.

Its dedicated band room hosts touring artists, tribute shows and larger entertainment bills, giving Noosa audiences a standing-room alternative to the seated program at The J.

There is also regular entertainment elsewhere in the pub, making it one of the northern Coast’s most established live music stops.

11. Black Box Theatre at The Old Ambo, Nambour

Black Box Theatre is part of The Old Ambulance Station, the Sunshine Coast’s only dedicated multi-arts facility.

The intimate, soundproof 80-seat room can be adapted for independent live music, theatre, film, comedy and experimental performances.

Nambour’s punk, hardcore and alternative promoters have also used the space to bring interstate and international artists into the centre of town.

12. Bluff Bar at Alex Surf Club, Alexandra Headland

Live music at Alexandra Headland Surf Club

Bluff Bar at Alex Surf Club pairs regular live music with one of the best coastal outlooks on the Sunshine Coast.

The club presents performers across the week alongside larger outdoor events such as Bluff Fest and Alex by the Sea, which bring festival lineups into the park beside the beach.

It works equally well for a casual afternoon session or a large outdoor show with the ocean sitting just beyond the stage.
