Megalodon and Harlum will launch their new single “The Main Event” at a community hip-hop event of the same name in Redcliffe on April 18, with the night set to bring together artists, DJs and audiences from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
Held at Tribe Clubhouse, The Main Event aims to create a more connected grassroots space for the local scene while centring community as much as performance.
The lineup has been built with intention, with Megalodon and Harlum leading the bill as they launch a new single, joined by Choppaz Rightz, Mikky and Aeon Mind. Miss LC will be on the decks across the night, and an open mic featuring five handpicked artists will also form part of the program.
Organisers say the night is being shaped around community rather than ego, with artists chosen not just for talent but for their work ethic, mindset and the way they move through the scene.
Community support is part of the night

In response to ongoing cost-of-living pressures, organisers will run a raffle featuring support from local businesses including Black Flag Brewing, Lomandra Accounting, Maroochy Writers Bench, Amborigen and Urbndecay.
Prizes will include beer, fuel vouchers and Coles vouchers, alongside art packs and other giveaways aimed at giving something back to the same community that keeps local culture moving.
Event organiser Ben Russoniello, of Green Room Management, co-presenting the event with Shut Up Meg Media, said the raffle was designed with real-life pressure in mind.
“I don’t think anyone else is raffling off beer, fuel and Coles vouchers in a pack either,” he said.
Megalodon said the night was being built with a clear sense of purpose as part of a broader effort to rebuild connection in the scene.
“This isn’t just a show — it’s a room with standards,” he said.
“That’s what’s been missing and that’s what’s being rebuilt here. If you’re about community, you’re in. If not, keep it moving.”
The bigger picture behind the event

For organisers, the night also speaks to a wider gap in the South East Queensland hip-hop landscape. While Brisbane can feel overcrowded and harder for grassroots artists to cut through, events like this are trying to create stronger local pathways and community connection.
Ben, who grew up on earlier generations of Australian hip-hop, said part of that vision comes from wanting to reconnect with a culture that once placed stronger emphasis on identity, collaboration and community.
The Main Event will be held at Tribe Clubhouse in Redcliffe on Friday, April 18, from 6pm to 10pm. Entry is free and the event is open to all ages.
