Local musician Pat Nicholson is organising the event and says the Coast has been longing for a blues festival.
“I wanted to create an opportunity for us local musicians to get our music out to a larger audience, to support local musicians, and with the aim of growing this into a must-see event.”
“I think people love blues because it resonates in an almost primal way, and it connects people to a fundamental source in music.”
Pat Nicholson Band plays at Sunshine Coast Blues & Roots Festival on Saturday, February 17, from 6.30pm-11.30pm.
Local bues man
After a whirlwind of working and living in London, Bristol, Bath, Sydney and Canada, Pat moved to the Coast in 2014, and now has two kids, 11 and 13.
He is a full-time musician and plays blues and rock at events and festivals.
Sunshine Coast Blues & Roots Festival will be held at The Shed, Banana Bender Pub. Music from Craig Madden Band, TJ Carter Band, Luke Anthony and Reverend Billy Blues. This event is 18+.
Pat’s new single
Pat has written and produced a new song, “I Need You”.
It was recorded in Australia and England, and mixed in New York by grammy award-winning producer/engineer Dave O’Donnell, who has mixed albums for Keith Richards and Sheryl Crow.
He has more songs on the way, and is currently writing and recording an album with Grammy award-winning drummer Rob Brian, of Simple Minds, Siouxsie Sioux, and Peter Gabriel.
A boozy blues fest
