Are you ready for BIGSOUND 2025?

July 21, 20258 min read

Main photo: Touted as the Southern-Hemisphere’s biggest live music discovery and connection event, BIGSOUND 2025 brings speakers, musicians and important industry reps to Brisbane in September.

Australian artists Josh Pyke (pictured) and Tash Santana will join triple j radio godfather Richard Kingsmill when monolithic music industry event BIGSOUND 2025 descends on Brisbane on September 2-5.

BIGSOUND has dropped some massive names today from both Australian and global industry juggernauts, including Rene Contreras from Goldenvoice and curator of the Sonora Tent at Coachella, Andy Clayton.

Laneway Festival Director Jessie Parker and Head of ABC Music, ARIA Chair and CMA Board Member Nat Waller will also be in attendance.

BIGSOUND’s commitment to fostering impactful discussion across themes of festivals, export, artist growth and development manifests in unmissable sessions across the entirety of the program.

“The BIGSOUND conference has built an international reputation for connecting artists to new networks and markets and promoting the state’s contemporary live music industry,” Minister for the Arts John-Paul Langbroek says.

“This year’s BIGSOUND program offers industry stakeholders the opportunity to explore key issues with local and international music experts and influence the future of live music in Queensland and beyond. We’re proud to support QMusic and BIGSOUND to build markets, audiences and career development opportunities for Queensland artists and boost the state’s profile as a vibrant live music destination.”

Music industry heavyweights bring expertise to Brisbane

Australia’s industry figureheads are threaded through the conference program, with Tuesday’s opening discussion “First Word: One Brilliant Thing” featuring Jaddan Comerford (CEO & Founder, UNIFIED Music Group), Josh Simons, (CEO, Vinyl Music Group) and Annabelle Herd (CEO, ARIA). This powerful meeting of minds is set to offer leading perspectives on where the Australian and international industries are heading.

triple j will celebrate 50 years at BIGSOUND, featuring a dedicated panel examining the youth station’s pathways for discovery and exporting Australian music to the globe. They will bring back their highly popular servicing sessions where artists pitch their music directly to triple j programmers. Renowned DJ and Producer Nina Las Vegas celebrates 10 years of her groundbreaking Australian label, NLV Records with a panel of label partners who will relive the significant milestone in underground music innovation.

BIGSOUND Director of Programs, Mandi McIntyre says she is excited by the calibre of this year’s program.

“From the outset, we’ve sought to create a program of a truly international standard whilst being relevant and connected to the Australian music ecosystem,” Mandi says. “We believe 2025 is set to be a year of fantastic outcomes for BIGSOUND attendees.”
