A Sunshine Coast arts group is one of 119 community groups to receive a share in more than $730,000 in local government grants.
Feral Arts has secured $7000 towards consultation, research, video production and artist workshop fees for the pilot of a six-year project targeting the revitalisation of the Kunda Park precinct.Â
Light Industry studios, brought to life by Feral Arts, hosts Sunshine Coast Music Club with record producer Alex Henriksson, who runs Rainbow Valley Records with Matt Corby (pictured).
The popular precinct also runs regular workshops with UniSC producer Dr Andy Ward (main picture), Dr Lachlan Goold, AKA Magoo, and celebrity musicians, fostering a culture of mentorship, between successful and emerging local acts.
Records were broken in Council’s latest Major Grants round, which received the highest ever number of applications.
Mayor Rosanna Natoli says the Community Grants Program aims to enhance vital community infrastructure.
“Here on the Sunshine Coast, we’re connecting and engaging with our communities to build a better future for everyone,” Mayor Natoli says.
“Several community groups supported in this round received funding for large shovel-ready projects where funding was also provided from other funding programs.”
Other community projects funded under Council’s Major Grants program include:
• Kenilworth Chamber of Commerce received $6000 towards event costs for the 2024 Kenilworth Classic Car Show, a free family event held at Kenilworth Showgrounds, scheduled for August 25.
• Generation Innovation Ltd received $8000 towards the videographer and venue hire for the annual Generation Innovation Challenge, a project that empowers 15 to 25-year-old entrepreneurs to translate their ideas into viable businesses.Â
