Bulcock Street Music Festival brings fresh hope to Caloundra

April 21, 20253 min read

Melbourne rocksters Drunk Mums (pictured) and the Sunshine Coast’s own Pricey will headline Bulcock Street Music Festival on June 21.

The new festival is bringing fresh hope to the Coast’s music community, after it lost its beloved Caloundra Music Festival (CMF) last year.

CMF offered three days of sun, surf and soul at Kings Beach every year between 2007-2023.

Since it ended, community leaders have been pushing for a smaller, grassroots festival.

Local punk-rock favourites Chamber Lane – who tore the roof off Solbar’s Easter long-weekend celebrations last night – is also part of the lineup.

The lads combine punk-rock swagger with Britpop swing, serving up riffs so sharp they’d have Johnny Ramones frothin’ for days.

Check out the Bulcock Street Music Festival full lineup:

Drunk Mums, Pricey, Autobahns, (Secret Act), Pity Vincent, Thank U Please, Speira, Chamber Lane, Pvcker Up, Rosemine, Arugula, Leatherman and Mr Sparkle (DJ).

‘Community-focused’ festival marks new chapter for Coast

The Bulcock Street Music Festival marks a new chapter for the Coast’s music scene.

Touted as “a celebration of punk, hardcore, and indie-alternative music”, it’s expected to be grounded in youth culture, community, creativity, and connection.

And of course, plenty of loud music.

Picture: The crowd goes wild for Drunk Mums who will headline at the new Caloundra festival.

To be held in the town’s centre, it brings together 10 local and Brisbane bands for an all-ages showdown.

Bulcock St Bazaar festival director and local business owner Al Jones says the event is being run by local businesses and shaped “by people who care deeply about music and the spaces where it happens”.

โ€œWeโ€™re building something for the scene, by the scene,โ€ Al says.

โ€œSpaces where grassroots music festivals can thrive are getting harder to find โ€” so we decided to create one ourselves, right here in Caloundra.โ€

Festival-goers can explore the best of nearby foodie haunts with all-day pass-outs, in turn supporting businesses during the challenging times.
