Hardcore legends Speed on route to Nambour

Aussie hardcore rockstars Speed have announced their return to the Sunshine Coast after being forced to cancel their previous tour.

Fresh from a career-defining performance at Coachella, the Sydney heavy-hitters will play at Black Box Theatre on July 17.

The ARIA Award winners played at Solbar in January, and were due to play the all-ages Nambour gig days later. However, a family emergency altered their plans.

While that show still went ahead – with local promoters Anti-Vision delivering another raw and powerful hardcore show for the Coast – fans have been waiting for their hardcore heroes to return.

Speed’s landmark hardcore Nambour show is finally here

The punk and hardcore music scene is flourishing in Nambour in recent times, with a consistent stream of international acts.

In the last year, the UK’s Peter and The Test Tube Babies and GBH, and Poison Ruin from the US, have all played shows at Black Box.

Located inside The Old Ambo on Howard St, the community-run gallery and theatre sits next door to Bad Habit Records, another mainstay of the local music scene.

It forms part of the suburb’s Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP), which was set up to allow for easier noise restrictions.

The Presynct is also in the SEP, bringing A-class acts such as The Tea Party’s Jeff Martin (Canada) to the suburb. A place Jeff now calls his permanent home.

Speed is bringing fellow Flatspot Records crew Whispers direct from Thailand, and young Newcastle upstarts Feel The Pain.

Known for their metal-infused flute-solos, these homecoming shows are predicted to deliver Speed at their all-time best.
