Gympie Music Muster 2023 ROCKS!

August 27, 20233 min read

Gympie: Holy heck Gympie Muster Muster 2023, what a ride!

This place is like country music on steroids, if you can get any more country than that!

The Akubras were out by day and the Driza-Bones came out by night. This place is an actual village of its own, deep in the dreamy Amamoor state forest.

But we think this guy officially gets best dressed, don’t you?

Blues local Ash Grunwald and Larry Mitchell from the USA rocked it the Blues Bar drawing a massive crowd, while Sunny Coast country music darling Taylor Moss stole the show (pictured below) in the Crow Bar later that evening.

Other stand-outs over the weekend were Emily Wurramara, Vixens of Fall, Sara Storer, The Sunny Cowgirls, Kasey and Bill Chambers, Busby Marou, The Rock and Roll boys (they got the country hoe down happening!), Adam Brand, Troy Cassar-Daley, and more.

Taylor Moss showed us who really was Queen of Country Australia!

We loved USA blues master Larry Mitchell’s crushed velvet flares, OMG! And he was a huge hit with the audience getting down from the stage for a boogie with several lucky members of the crowd.

Yelo editor Penny’s favourite bar was the Blues Bar, which we couldn’t keep her away from. But it was just a Coke of course as this lady is sober AF.

Penny said Ash blew the roof off the Blues Bar tent on Saturday night, while joining Larry for a jam during the day.

And a campfire at the main Optus stage kept us all super toasty and cosy!

Our media pass got us an all-access viewing, oh and boots and jeans are a must! Check out our Gympie
‘Muster Musts’ here.

Hussy Hicks joined Minnie Marks, Kelly Brouhaha, Luke Moller, JayBird Byrne and Jeff Lang in this jam that was more epic than your grandma’s strawberry variety.

These girls knocked it out of the park in a total girl-power moment! In a furiously savage deep, bluesy musical moment, Hussy’s earring went flying across the stage. Being typical girls, a few smirks were abound. Then Hussy realised and put it in her pocket, not skipping a beat.

Don’t worry girls we would have LOL’d too πŸ˜‰

Penny said she was sad to leave πŸ™ but bring on Gympie Muster Muster 2024!

We’re going to camp next year and we recommend you do too so you can soak in all of this true-blue country Australian epic-ness.

Oh, and bring the kids too. This is a super family-friendly crowd. We already miss the fresh country air, smoky campfire smells, incredible local and international talent, and feel-good, home-grown vibes.

As The Castle’s Darryl Kerrigan says, “it’s the vibe”.

Sigh, until next year….
