How to Get Gigs in Queensland
Getting gigs is easier when a booker can understand your music, your live offer and the night you are proposing in under two minutes.
This guide is for Queensland artists booking their first shows, building a regional run or trying to move beyond the same three rooms.
Find the right rooms

Watch bills for a few weeks. Notice who promotes the show, which local supports appear regularly, what nights the venue books original music and whether the room suits 50 people or 500.
Send a useful pitch
- Your artist name, home base and a one-sentence description.
- One strong live video and one current music link.
- The date range or specific show you are proposing.
- Your likely draw, stated honestly.
- Any suitable support acts, tour partners or local angle.
- A clean EPK or short page with contact details.
Keep the email short. The goal is to make a sensible show easy to picture, not to paste your entire biography into somebody’s inbox.
Build a bill that makes sense
A strong bill shares an audience without putting three identical acts on stage. If you are visiting a new town, a genuinely local support can bring knowledge, people and context. Agree on set lengths, backline, arrival times, promotion and payment before announcing.
Use the gig you already have
Good live footage, an accurate crowd photo, a tidy settlement and a professional follow-up all help with the next booking. Keep a simple record of ticket sales, door numbers, merchandise and the people you worked with.
