Macy Gray is heading to Townsville with the Grammy-winning soul singer announced for a one-night show at the North Australian Festival of Arts.
Macy Gray will perform at Townsville Civic Theatre on October 2, as part of NAFA 2026.
The show forms part of Gray’s largest ever tour of Australia and New Zealand, with the US soul artist set to play a run of metro and regional dates across September and October.
Queensland gets a decent look-in too, with dates listed for Townsville, Cairns, Rockhampton and Brisbane.
Macy Gray heads north for NAFA
Best known for her unmistakable voice and late-90s breakthrough hit “I Try”, Gray has sold more than 25 million records worldwide and remains one of the most recognisable voices in modern soul and R&B.
Her Townsville show is being presented as part of the North Australian Festival of Arts, which returns from September 25 to October 11, bringing live performance, music, arts and cultural programming across the city.
NAFA lists the show as Macy Gray Live, with the performance scheduled for 8pm at Townsville Civic Theatre.
A regional Queensland tour moment
The announcement is also another strong regional Queensland touring moment, with Gray’s national run stretching beyond the usual capital-city circuit.
Alongside Townsville, the Queensland leg includes CPAC in Cairns on October 3, Pilbeam Theatre in Rockhampton on October 7 and QPAC in Brisbane on October 9.
Big-name tours do not always make it beyond the major south-east rooms, and Gray’s Queensland run puts Townsville, Cairns and Rockhampton on the same national tour as Brisbane.
