Burleigh Heads: Live music venue Burleigh Bazaar has been sold for $4.4 million and is set to make way for new owner skincare company MooGoo, it has been reported.
Formerly BBQ Bazaar, the venue which fits up to 1200 people has been entertaining Gold Coast families on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights since 2018.
It was the region’s answer to nighttime open-air markets, with a killer lineup of local and national acts, and food trucks, similar to the Sunshine Coast’s Nightquarter which sadly saw the same fate post-pandemic.
Liam Eugarde said on social media: “A truly terrible loss for Gold Coast’s live music scene. You will be missed.”
Owner Michael Salay told YELO in an email: “I decided to sell because I received a very good offer at a time of uncertainty.”
“We were gaining momentum getting some great acts in and bookings into the next year but like all business there is always the possibility of ups and downs.
“And with rising costs etc, it seems like the right choice and time.”
The Gold Coast Bulletin reported the 2280 sqm property at Junction Rd in Burleigh Heads sold for $1.25m in 2016.
Recent acts included The Whitlams, Boy and Bear, and Middle Kids.
