Fans have expressed their sadness after US band Sum 41 announced they will cancel their Australian tour after frontman Deryck Whibley fell ill with pneumonia.
In a statement on social media on Thursday the band said “they are gutted” they will be unable to perform.
Yesterday, the band had to cancel their Brisbane show at the eleventh hour after Deryck was diagnosed with the sickness.
Destroy All Lines advised patrons attending Sum 41‘s Brisbane show would receive refunds via the point of purchase.
Sum 41 fans jumped to support the band wishing the lead singer a speedy recovery.
Paul Moore said: “Deeply saddened. But can completely understand.”
While Brayden Schouten said: “Completely understandable! But absolutely devastating for us down here on the bottom corner of the globe that many punk bands don’t visit.”
Sacramento’s DESTROY BOYS also had to pull out of Good Things this year, with Alex Lahey stepping in to replace them.

The Good Things team also made an announcement regarding Sum 41, saying the show will still go on with 28 touring bands including headliners Korn who are “ready and raring to go”.
Other major acts peforming include Violent Femmes, Electric Callboy and Billy Corgan.
The statement reads:
“An Update from the Good Things team:
“Good Things is set to hit Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney this weekend, with a slight tweak to the lineup. Under the guidance and direction of doctors in Australia, it has become clear Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley is too unwell to perform.
“Sum 41 are gutted they can’t perform, and we fully understand and appreciate fans’ disappointment. Deryck’s health and wellbeing is the focus and priority though, and we hope you will join us in sending him well wishes for his recovery.
“The good news is our headliner Korn is ready and raring to go, the sites are built, venues look amazing and our timetable has been shuffled to ensure you have the best day possible. You’ll still be able to catch more than 28 bands including Violent Femmes, Electric Callboy, Billy Corgan, Mastodon, Kerry King, The Gaslight Anthem, Jet, The Living End, L7 and many more across the weekend.
