Caloundra is one of nine cities across Australia to host a battle of the bands where one winner will play alongside Aussie rock legends Pseudo Echo, Thirsty Merc and Jebediah at the Airlie Beach Festival of Music on November 8-10.
Previous Sunshine Coast winners have included Owls of Neptune in 2022 and Staremaster in 2023.
Calling all local musicians: Auditions for Passport to Airlie kick off at the Kings Beach Tavern on Thursday from 7pm.
What is Passport to Airlie?
Passport to Airlie is one of Australia’s largest live, original music initiatives, with auditions held in regional areas nation-wide to allow for a broad range of genres, participants and audiences.
The festival gives venues, musicians and local industry the opportunity to showcase the many incredible performers in their communities and their diverse talents.
Other host cities include Mackay, Newcastle, Melbourne, Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Cairns and Darwin.
There will be four heats at the Kings Beach Tavern on June 27, July 2 and July 4, with a final on July 26. Each night runs from 7pm-10pm.
The winning prize:
The winning act from each region heads to Airlie Beach to compete in the grand finals and also receives:
- 4 nights accommodation for up to five members
- 3-Day VIP Festival Passes including food and drinks
- $1000 performance fee
- Media opportunities
- The chance to play their own music in paradise at the Airlie Beach Festival of Music on November 8-10!
The winner receives all of the above AGAIN the following year PLUS a spot on the main stage line-up At Airlie Beach Festival of Music 2025!
