Xavier Rudd surprises local kids

August 25, 20231 min read

Eumundi: Australian roots musician and local resident Xavier Rudd (pictured front with son Jundi) has visited students of a Sunshine Coast children’s rock school to give some encouraging words in the lead up to their upcoming festival.

Eumundi School of Music pupils were rehearsing at the Imperial Hotel last night in preparation for Sunshine Sounds Festival when they received the special visit from Rudd, who resides with his family on a private five-acre property in thick forest on the Coast.

Sunshine Sounds is the brainchild of Australian vocal powerhouse and Eumundi resident Katie Noonan, who also runs the junior music school, which she created to put a spotlight on emerging young talent, while also supporting the region’s music industry.

The all-ages festival has a phenomenal home-grown line up this year featuring; iconic Australian pop stars Frente, Abby Dobson, who led 90s band Leonardo’s Bride, and legendary cartoonist Michael Leunig, as well as Katie Noonan herself with a string quartet, not to mention the school’s own pint-sized talent.

Eumundi School of Music’s “Miss Z” thanked Rudd on Instagram for spending time with the little rockstars.

“It was a special memory for us.”

Sunshine Sounds Festival is on September 2-3. More here.
