Trailblazing Indigenous trio Tjaka bring their high-energy show to the Gold Coast’s Miami Marketta on June 21.
Fusing banging electronic hip-hop beats, with their Aboriginal ancestral influences, Tjaka are an unmissable live act.
They are here off the back of Splendour in the Grass and Taiwan’s PASIWALI, where they played afront 30,000 people.
Tjaka‘s vision is to showcase the connection between the past and present. They do this by creating music deeply connected to their heritage, yet modern in delivery.
From Meanjin/Brisbane, they offer up lava-hot rap flow known to melt crowds into a crucible of funk. And infuse it with reggae and dance.
The face bass, a seismic microphone used inside Geoff’s mouth, adds a unique bass sound to the music. And enhances the traditional Aboriginal elements.
They also use the didjeribone, which is a slide didgeridoo, similar to a trombone.
The Fabila brothers, Geoff and Jake, and their close friend Felix Fogarty (The Dandys), created Tjaka. It’s a word from Tjakamarra, the skin name given to the brothers. They are proud descendants of the Jabirr Jabirr tribe in Western Australian’s Kimberley.
